La-Z-Boy has been a well-known brand providing quality recliners for over 90 years.

The Talladega Recliner is one of the best-selling and best reviewed lazy boy leather recliners.

This review will look closer at the Talladega Recliner and evaluate its features, design, comfort, durability, price, and value.

In our previous review of the La-Z-Boy brand, we came away feeling less than supportive of the company.

This was due to the poor quality and craftsmanship, along with many negative product reviews from customers and complaints about customer support.

However, I wanted to keep an open mind by closely examining one of the best-selling recliner chairs from La-Z-Boy.

Features

The Talladega Recliner has several features that make it stand out from other recliners in the market.

Its adjustable headrest allows you to find the perfect position for your head and neck.

The power reclining mechanism lets you easily adjust the recliner to your preferred angle, while the lumbar support provides added comfort and helps alleviate back pain.

According to a review on Furniture Academy, this recliner has padded arms and a tall foam back, making it comfortable for most body types.

However, the reviewer recommends this recliner for those taller than 5'10" because the tall back will not fit shorter body types well.

One of the great things about the La-Z-Boy Talladega recliner is that it comes in various fabrics and colors.

According to a review on Style Meets Comfort, La-Z-Boy has over 800 fabrics and leathers, making the experience of personalizing your furniture seemingly endless.

When choosing select materials, the Talladega comes in 7 select fabric covers. These all range from neutral-toned beiges and greys to admiral dark blue and persimmon red for a bold fabric.

Design

The Talladega Recliner has a modern, sleek design available in various colors and fabrics to fit different styles of decor.

Its size and shape make it perfect for taller individuals, and its wide seat and backrest provide ample comfort.

According to a review on Wayfair, the Talladega's ultra-plush chaise seat and leg rest create a continuous zone of comfort in the reclining position, while the padded arms and tall foam back provide unparalleled support for the head and neck.

Plus, the chair back can recline independently without activating the leg rest, and you can adjust the leg rest with the convenient side-mounted handle.

One thing to remember when purchasing a La-Z-Boy Talladega recliner is that it is a larger piece of furniture. The Talladega is 44 inches high, 38 inches wide, 38 inches deep when closed, and 70 inches deep when fully reclined.

If you have a smaller living room, this chair may not fit your space best. However, the La-Z-Boy Talladega is worth considering if you have a larger living room and want a comfortable and stylish recliner.

Comfort and Support

In terms of comfort and support, the Talladega Recliner does not disappoint. The adjustable headrest and lumbar support ensure your body is well-supported and comfortable.

Many customers have praised the Talladega Recliner for its soft and plush cushioning, which provides a comfortable sitting experience for extended periods.

I've examined hundreds of reviews, and to my surprise, buyers are quite pleased with the comfort of the Talledaga recliner.

This is one example from a Wayfair buyer, but this is opinion is echoed quite frequently:

This rocker recliner does not disappoint! It is very stylish, well-made and comfortable. A great addition to our living room.

Durability and Maintenance

While a product can get great reviews just a few months after purchase, one of the biggest things I worry about, especially with La-Z-Boy, is its furniture's longevity and durability.

As we discussed in our prior review of La-Z-Boy, the brand, we found that their furniture is made with plywood (not solid 'hardwoods'), and their recliners are made with inferior reclining mechanisms.

Thus, the bulk of longer-term complaints of La-Z-Boy recliners has been regarding the failure of their recliner mechanism.

One of the biggest concerns I have when buying any leather recliner from La-Z-Boy is that they use what is known as a 'leather match' for the chairs.

To cut costs, they will use real leather on the seating areas, arms, sides, and front while blending the leather with a cheap polyurethane match on the back of the chair.

This can lead to a piece of furniture that holds up well in the seating areas but might start to peel and crack in the areas where the inferior matching, fake leather is used.

The Talladega chair has a limited lifetime warranty and a manual recliner mechanism, which helps avoid some common complaints with La-Z-Boy's electric recliner mechanism.

Note that the Talladega rocking recliner is also available as a wall recliner and power recliner, including massage and heat functions.

Price and Value

The Talladega Recliner is not the cheapest recliner on the market; however, La-Z-Boy holds premium brand recognition with customers.

But is it deserved?

talledega-lazyboy

At around $1200 for the manual rocking leather match recliner, it's maybe worth considering; however, one can buy the fabric Talladega recliner for about $200 to $300 less.

With its excellent comfort and support, and sleek design, the Talladega Recliner is still worth considering for anyone looking for a comfortable recliner.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the La-Z-Boy Talladega recliner is a comfortable and supportive chair option.

With a variety of fabrics and colors to choose from, you can personalize this recliner to fit your style. It is a larger piece of furniture and provides ample comfort and support for those taller than 5'10".

The La-Z-Boy Talladega is worth considering if you're in the market for a new recliner; however, I do remain concerned with some of the quality control issues we've discussed in the past.

In addition, the leather match upholstery option is probably not a great long-term solution for those seeking a 'buy it for life' type of recliner.'

Did you find the Talladega comfortable and supportive? Any issues, questions, or concerns?
